Symbol Groups

Overview

Symbol Groups allow you to organize multiple symbols into categories and set commission rates for entire groups at once, rather than configuring each symbol individually.

Benefits of Symbol Groups

Common Symbol Groups

• Forex Majors - EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, etc.
• Forex Minors - EUR/GBP, GBP/JPY, etc.
• Forex Exotics - USD/TRY, EUR/ZAR, etc.
• Metals - GOLD, SILVER
• Indices - US500, UK100, GER40
• Crypto - BTCUSD, ETHUSD
• Commodities - CRUDE, NATGAS

Managing Symbol Groups

Accessing Symbol Groups

Navigate to Partner Area > Symbols and click the "Symbol Groups" button in the page header. This opens the Symbol Groups management page with:

• Statistics cards showing total, active, and inactive groups
• Advanced filter panel for searching and filtering
• Quick status toggle and edit actions

Creating a Symbol Group

1. Go to Symbols > Symbol Groups
2. Click "Add Symbol Group"
3. Enter group name
4. Select symbols to include (searchable dropdown)
5. Set status (Enable/Disable)
6. Save

Editing a Symbol Group

1. Click the ... menu on a group
2. Select "Edit"
3. Modify name or symbols
4. Save changes

Adding Symbols to a Group

Method 1: From Symbol Groups page

1. Edit the symbol group
2. Search and select symbols from the dropdown
3. Save

Method 2: From Symbols page (Quick Add)

1. Click the ... menu on any symbol
2. Select "Add to Group"
3. Check the groups to add the symbol to
4. Click "Update Groups"

This quick method allows adding a symbol to multiple groups without leaving the Symbols page.

Commission Rate Priority

When a trade occurs, the system checks rates in this order:

1. Symbol-specific rate (highest priority)
2. Symbol group rate
3. No rate (no commission paid)

This means you can:

• Set a group rate for all Forex pairs ($3/lot)
• Override specific symbols like EURUSD ($5/lot)

Example Configuration

Goal: All Forex pays $3/lot except EURUSD pays $5/lot

1. Create group "All Forex" with all forex symbols
2. In commission structure, add "All Forex" group at $3/lot
3. Add symbol "EURUSD" at $5/lot (overrides group)

Result:

• EURUSD trades: $5/lot (symbol rate)
• GBPUSD trades: $3/lot (group rate)
• USDJPY trades: $3/lot (group rate)

Best Practices

1. Create logical groups based on asset class
2. Use groups for default rates, symbols for exceptions
3. Keep group names descriptive
4. Review group membership when adding new symbols
5. Document your grouping strategy for team members
