Commission Structures
Configure per-symbol and per-group commission rates for each IB level.
Overview
Commission Structures define how much IBs earn per trade at each level. You can configure commission rates at the symbol level (e.g., EURUSD) or at the symbol group level (e.g., Forex Majors) for each account type in your platform.
Commission Calculation
+----------------+ +------------------+ +------------------+
| Commission/Lot | x | Trade Volume | = | Total Commission |
| (e.g. $5) | | (e.g. 2 lots) | | (e.g. $10) |
+----------------+ +------------------+ +------------------+
Commission/Lot x Trade Volume (Lots) = Total Commission
Example: If commission is $5/lot and a trade is 2 lots, the IB earns $10.
Commission Structure Hierarchy
When calculating commissions, the system checks for rates in this order:
- Symbol-Specific Rate - If a rate is defined for the specific symbol (e.g., EURUSD), use that rate
- Symbol Group Rate - If no symbol rate exists, check if the symbol belongs to a group with a defined rate
- No Commission - If no rate is found, no commission is paid for that trade
Configuring Commission Structures
Step 1: Access Commission Structures
Navigate to Partner Area > IB Levels. Click the ... menu on any level and select "Commission Structure".
Step 2: Understand the Layout
The page is organized by account type. Each account type section has three columns:
- Left Column (50%) - Selected Structures: Shows all configured commission rates with their values
- Middle Column (25%) - Available Symbols: List of individual symbols you can add
- Right Column (25%) - Symbol Groups: List of symbol groups you can add
Step 3: Add Symbols or Symbol Groups
Click the + button next to any symbol or symbol group to add it to the selected structures.
- Symbol = Individual symbol (e.g., EURUSD)
- Group = Symbol group (e.g., Forex Majors)
Step 4: Set Commission Values
For each selected item, enter the commission value:
- Type - Currently set to "Fixed" (amount per lot)
- Comm/Lot - The commission amount paid per lot traded (e.g., $5.00 per lot)
Step 5: Repeat for Each Account Type
Each account type can have different commission structures. Configure rates for all account types where this level should earn commissions.
Step 6: Save Changes
Click "Update Commission Structures" at the bottom of the page to save all changes.
Example Scenarios
Scenario 1: Simple Forex Commission
You want all Forex pairs to pay $5 per lot for Standard accounts:
- Account Type: Standard Account
- Add Symbol Group: "Forex Majors" > $5.00/lot
- Add Symbol Group: "Forex Minors" > $5.00/lot
Scenario 2: Tiered Commissions with Override
Most Forex pairs pay $4/lot, but EURUSD and GBPUSD pay $6/lot:
- Add Symbol Group: "All Forex" > $4.00/lot
- Add Symbol: "EURUSD" > $6.00/lot (overrides group)
- Add Symbol: "GBPUSD" > $6.00/lot (overrides group)
Scenario 3: Different Rates by Account Type
Standard accounts pay $5/lot, ECN accounts pay $3/lot:
- Account Type: Standard > Add Symbol Group: "All Forex" > $5.00/lot
- Account Type: ECN > Add Symbol Group: "All Forex" > $3.00/lot
Best Practices
- Use symbol groups for bulk configuration to save time and ensure consistency
- Use individual symbols only when you need to override the group rate
- Higher levels should typically have higher commission rates to incentivize growth
- Consider your spread/markup when setting commission rates to maintain profitability
- Document your commission structure for transparency with IBs
